Marina Etiquette for Beginners

Visited a marina, whether you’re vacationing in the United States, Europe or the Middle East, can be a very exciting and fun, especially if you have not visited the marina before, or do not go sailing on a regular basis. However, such attraction or place of interest, the marina will have certain rules and guidelines that visitors must abide by, and while some of these will be health and safety problems.

As space in a marina can be limited, it is imperative that all visitors work to be good ‘neighbors’ while their boat was moored at a marina, and because your actions will affect everyone from fellow ship you to the staff of the marina, it is very important that certain guidelines are recognized and followed. This guide is easy to remember, and even easier to understand, so take the time to study it before you arrive at the marina of your choice.

You always Flemish mooring lines, as this will be another danger for people tripping on the pier. So the coil of each mooring line excess neat, and store it in a safe place.

Remember to keep all the clutter on your boat to a minimum, especially any disorder in and around your life raft, as you may need to access the life of your boat quickly in an emergency, and other clutter and excess supplies will only slow you down.

While waiting for passengers, or when trying to load the boat, keep away from roads and fuel dock floats launch – using a special loading zone to ensure that you do not get in the way of anyone.

As mentioned earlier, most marinas around the world will have clear rules and guidelines, so taking the time to read and study them, because they can not just stop you from making mistakes, they also can make you very popular with the neighboring marina and marina staff .

Your Airport Transportation Options

These modern times have given many people a new set of options when it comes to getting to the airport and moving around town. In large metropolises the amount of people using cabs instead of owning cars is quite numerous. This is illustrated all the time in a variety of different ways, which is why it’s important to move forward with what works best. Let’s say that you’re going to need a ride to the airport, consider the following traditional routes and see why it’s far better to use a taxi instead:

  • Bus – You can wait at the corner of a street for a bus to come around. However, they don’t care about your time frame of getting anywhere. The buses in major cities have a set schedule and they pick up several passengers, sometimes to over filling. These passengers and yourself wait through many stops before landing on your destination. Even with good intentions, it could take upwards of an hour or 2 hours to get to destinations, depending on how many stops and traffic. It can be cheap, but your time will be wasted.
  • Shuttles – You could get a shuttle, which is something of the past, but you end up dealing with the schedule of 20 other people that are headed to the same destination. Not only is it hard to maintain a high level of customer service here, you’ll end up crammed in a van with a lot of people, which is not something that most people want to utilize.
  • Limousine – Let’s just say you want to go in style, you could end up using this option, but it costs a lot of money. This is not a great option unless you’re dealing with a lot of money and want to go to the airport in luxury.
  • Driving – You can drive yourself, and save a few dollars, but then you’ll have to figure out where to park your vehicle. Overnight parking lots are hard to deal with and find that are inexpensive. If you go with this option you’ll have to pay a lot of money over time.
  • Friends – You can ask friends and hope they take your flight as serious as you do, and get you to your terminal on time. This is hit or miss for many people, as it is hard to instill certain urgency to friends and even some families.
